Coming from a musical family, Chris has been writing and playing as long as he can remember. As well as being consistently praised for his intelligent and melodic writing, he has played in a wide variety of bands including spells in Nashville, Tennessee and Washington DC as well as in the UK. A few of his past bands include playing Alt-country in the US (in a band which went on to be signed to BMG as The Lost Trailers), acid-jazz in The Bottle and more recently wistful folk-pop in the acoustic duo, Amber, with current Radio 2 favourite Jane Taylor.

Following the split from Jane in 2002, Chris recorded a new solo album, the warmly-received "Waiting in Line". Praised for its heartfelt blend of acoustic melancholy and delicate guitar work, the record was described as "A pretty damn successful album" (Decode Magazine) with "his voice reaching strong, plangent heights" (Venue). The album led to appearances at several industry showcase events in London as well as prestigious gigs in the West Country. He also made the final 10 in the Fopp/PRS Unsigned Competition which led to interest from several publishers, and played live sessions on BBC Radio Bristol and Star 107.2FM.

Looking to broaden his musical horizons, Chris then put together acclaimed indie rock outfit Minerva, who recorded two successful EPs and played high profile gigs which included Bush Hall in London and the Ashton Court Festival. He also found time for a successful spell with young singer-songwriter Lara England, notching up several festival appearances (including a return to Ashton Court in 2005) and an EP.

Minerva split amicably in December 2005, and Chris set about finishing off material for a new solo album with Minerva's keysman, Kev Hawthorn. Long-term friend James Phillips was drafted in to decorate the sound with saxophone, before Steve Beek played his first stellar performance with the band having not met 2 of the band members before or heard any of the songs. Strangely, it all clicked into place, and Jacanda was born.

Jacanda released "Back to the Sky" in October 2006, and was immediately described as "World Class" by www.bristolrocks.co.uk.   The band play several gigs in early 2007 and launch the CD to I-Tunes, Virgin and HMW Digital on 12 March.
